The origin is older than recorded architecture. A demon emerged from Shiva's sweat and threatened the cosmos. Forty-five gods pinned him to the earth — Brahma at the centre, the others arranged in concentric rings around him.
The 45 deities who hold him each govern an aspect of life — career, cash, health, relationships, creativity, reputation. When a building is placed correctly against the mandala, each deity's zone is honoured and the corresponding function flourishes.
